What is the Expert Witness Exchange Marketplace?

The Expert Witness Exchange Marketplace is a national location and connection business networking platform that matches attorneys to expert witnesses with the requisite skill sets and backgrounds. This allows expert witnesses to expand their litigation support practices and generate revenue through case retentions without having to pay up front advertising or subscription fees in order to participate. The Marketplace platform provides attorneys the means to provide a brief case synopsis and hear directly from one or more selected experts. It also allows attorneys to post questions to expert witnesses in the requisite category for experts who respond to the attorney directly.

The Exchange provides an intelligent expert witness location and connection platform incorporating available professional profile and court case data points. By re-imagining the expert witness location and retention experience through a smart search, a marketplace community has been created. The Exchange aims to serve both the expert witness and legal community by enabling greater transparency, trust mechanisms and time efficiencies while increasing the velocity of case retentions through the distributive mechanism that a service marketplace internet platform enables.

• The Marketplace system allows the upfront research for attorneys by providing information rich profiles and background details, incorporating legal case data where available and smart algorithms which control ranking and the order of search returns.
• The Validation Badge application process, as part of the profile creation process, validates the essential accuracy of participating experts, thus lowering the risk of surprise or exclusion.
• Lawyers may join for free and have access to this valuable and time saving resource. If an expert Witness is not listed or the profile is incomplete, they may not be found and business will be routed to those who have completed their profile.
• Lawyers will know that the listed experts are not paying for advertising and cannot influence the positioning of search and internal expert witness ranking.

How do I join the Marketplace?

1. Go to https://marketplace.expertwitnessexchange.com/experts/
2. Create a User Name and Password.
3. Claim your Profile or create a new Profile if you cannot locate yourself in our database.
4. Fill out the basic demographic and background information required for the Validation Badge section of your profile manager upload a CV, photo and enter your affirmations of accuracy.
5. Agree to ‘Terms and Condition of Marketplace’ membership.
6. Regularly update and expand your profile, record a video reply to selected questions, post social media links and increase your visibility to our search and matching algorithm.

Does it cost anything to Join the Marketplace?

For a limited time only there are NO subscription fees. There will be transaction fees based upon new business that you generate. You may join for free and choose to stay on this subscription free option initially or choose to migrate to higher value options which may blend a subscription while lowering your transaction fee. The Exchange believes in customer loyalty programs and in rewarding our best and most active expert witnesses. Under the flagship, The Exchange charges a transaction fee on new expert witness engagements, enables you to upload your invoicing and track your time commitments, billing the attorney Marketplace member or their firm and withholding a transaction fee for the service. During the beta phase, the Exchange will have additional options for consideration.

Why does the Marketplace charge a transaction fee?

Like any service marketplace providing the necessary infrastructure and development for community interaction and expert retentions to occur, a marketplace transaction fee is necessary. Commissions earned by the Exchange support both community development and our mission in practical ways. Besides providing a digital marketplace employing and testing leading technologies, we are establishing for everyone’s long term benefit a forum for new engagements to occur on a national basis while supporting community standards of excellence.

What is the Validation Badge credential and why is completing the application part of joining the Marketplace?

Because it is in everyone’s interest, the Validation Badge provides a uniform background credentialing standard validating an expert witness’s relevant background, training and employment experience. As an expert’s background is often critical in the Court’s assessment of qualifications and credibility on the issues in question, it is in everyone's interest to have some level of due diligence conducted at an early stage. As it is important for any marketplace to have quality control, the Exchange will promote high quality experts who possess verified backgrounds, the Validation Badge is a credential that establishes, to a high degree of certainty, that the credentialed expert witness is a valid participant in the judicial process. An internet based resource providing for the voluntary credentialing of expert witnesses is therefore both necessary and appropriate. Is there a cost for the Validation Badge application?

Yes, the cost of the validation badge is $350. You may choose to defer payment until the time of processing, which will occur in this circumstance upon your first expert witness retention enabled by the Marketplace.
